Hello Friends!
It’s been several months since I started this substack and as you can tell my content is quite all over the place and that’s the way I like it! As much as I want to focus on solely food, the purpose of this substack was to write and share whatever I want whenever I want to.
As you know, during the day I work as an Eating Disorder Dietitian and am hoping to use this substack to also share some wisdom that helps others heal their relationship with food. In honor of the best recovery food (IMO), once a month I’m going to share “Recovery Nuggies”, a list of statements that made my clients say “Can you write that down.”

Your dietary choices are not a moral failing. Life’s uncertainties and imperfections are not your responsibility.
Part of healing is letting yourself feel terrible. Healing does not result in being happy all the time. Healing comes from being able to navigate negative emotions and events.
Food is meant to provide joy, relaxation, and comfort. Let it.
Your body does not have the capacity to heal emotionally if it is not adequately fed.
You are already a selfless human. Eating enough calorically and enough variety is a human need. You are not selfish for eating any amount or type of food.
The negative feelings that come up when you eat have nothing to do with food. Nourishment is simply providing the ability for you to feel those feelings.
